My Venmo got flagged for a $3.50 charge to my roommate and I had to call support twice
Last Tuesday I tried to send my roommate 3 bucks for pizza and Venmo locked my whole account saying the payment looked suspicious. I sat on hold for 45 minutes, then the rep told me my name on my bank account did not match my Venmo profile. Turns out I signed up back in 2019 with a nickname from my old college email and never updated it. I had to upload my ID and wait two days just to send 3 dollars and 50 cents, which my roommate thought was hilarious. Has anyone else gotten their account frozen over a tiny payment like this?
Oh man, this kind of thing is everywhere now, feels like every company treats a few bucks like you're laundering money. My grocery store self-checkout held up a $2.19 purchase for "manual review" last month, so it's not just Venmo.
