Rant: my spreadsheet for tracking freelance dues was off by $612 and I found it at 1am
I was sitting at my kitchen table in Tulsa last Tuesday night reconciling my quarterly tax set-aside when I noticed my totals didn't match what my bank app showed, and after an hour of hunting I found I'd been counting one client's retainer twice every quarter since January. I fixed the formula, moved the extra $612 into a separate savings bucket, and now I check the running total against the bank once a week instead of once a season. Does anyone else keep a buffer account for when their own math turns out to be wrong, or am I the only one who does this to myself?
