Tried the envelope method for my fun money, and it beat my budgeting app in one month
Last month I put $120 of fun money into a plain white envelope and left my debit card at home for anything that wasn't a bill. I had been using a budgeting app for about 8 months, and after each weekend out I'd open it up and find $30 or $40 of "small" purchases I never really kept track of. With the envelope I could just look at what was left and know right away, and I finished the month with $18 still in it. The app showed me numbers after the fact, but the cash showed me limits in the moment. Has anyone else switched back to cash for one small category and stuck with it, or did you end up going back to the app?
