Warning: my old bank's 'high yield' savings was a joke next to a real money market fund

I moved $10,000 from my local bank's 0.5% account to a Vanguard fund paying over 4% last month (the difference is insane). Anyone else finally ditch their brick-and-mortar bank for something that actually works?

Yeah, the local service is nice. I just keep a small amount in my credit union for that stuff and move the rest.

But what about the fees and hassle? My credit union has no fees for my checking, and I can walk in for a notary or a cashier's check. Isn't that local service worth a little less interest on the money just sitting there?

Read a study that said people overvalue branch access, most of that stuff is online now anyway.
