Found a hidden trail marker system in the Poudre Canyon last weekend

Someone carved tiny arrows into the bark of pine trees every quarter mile along the Comanche Peak route, way different from the standard blue blazes I'm used to seeing out east, has anyone else run into trail markings like that in Colorado's backcountry?

Yeah I used to think those were just random gnaw marks but @grantw32 you got me rethinking that.

@grantw32 those "gnaw marks" could actually be old native american trail markers that got copied by beavers.

Yeah because nothing says "welcome to the wilderness" like getting Lost Directions from a disgruntled squirrel.
