Got caught in a hail storm near Mount Whitney last September

I was on the High Sierra Trail about 12 miles in when the sky just turned this weird greenish color out of nowhere. The hail started coming down hard, like pea-sized chunks, and I had maybe 30 seconds to get my rain gear on before I was soaked. I ducked under a big pine tree (probably not the smartest move, you know, lightning risk) and waited it out for 20 minutes. After it passed I had to wring out my socks and keep moving, but my map got totally waterlogged and I missed a turnoff. Has anyone else had a weather situation totally mess up their route timing?

Pea-sized hail" - I mean at least you got a free exfoliating shower out of it.

Wait, does that mean my bald spot now has a fresh new layer of skin? I guess the upside is I saved like 50 bucks on a fancy scrub at the spa. But now I gotta spend the whole weekend picking tiny ice pebbles out of my collar.

Last time I got hit with hail like that I threw a towel in the dryer for a minute and used it as a warm wrap after. The heat helped loosen up the little ice bits stuck in my hair and clothes. Worked way better than standing there picking at them with frozen fingers.
