Got told to slow down on the PCT and it made every mile easier

Last summer near Snoqualmie Pass, a thru-hiker I met said my pace was killing my footing and I'd end up injured by Oregon. I cut my daily miles from 25 to 18 for a week, and my knees and ankles stopped aching, plus I actually noticed the views. Anyone else had a similar push to slow down that worked out?
