I finally tried the old trail up to Lake Serene last weekend
The guidebook said it was a steady climb, but the new reroute around the washout added an extra mile of switchbacks. Anyone know if the Forest Service plans to fix the original path this season?

Ugh, that reroute is such a slog... I was up there a month ago and noticed a ton of new flagging tape way off the main trail, like they were scouting something. Maybe they're planning a whole new bridge instead of just fixing the old washout? That could take years of red tape and studies, not just a summer fix.
