Just found out the Gila River Route has a 3 mile stretch with no water at all in summer.

I was looking at the BLM maps for that area last night and the ranger station told me that stretch averages 110 degrees in July and people don't realize they need to cache water ahead of time, has anyone else almost gotten caught out there without enough?

That ranger station warning is something more people need to hear. I've done that stretch twice now and the heat is no joke - it hits you like a wall. The first time I cached water at the halfway point but the second time someone had taken my cache, which left me rationing for the last mile. A buddy of mine ended up with heat exhaustion out there last August and had to get airlifted out. The BLM really should put up better signage about the water situation.

Yeah people stealing caches out there is a special kind of evil.
