Just got back from the Lost Coast Trail and the amount of trash left at the Mattole River campsite was honestly depressing

Saw a piece on the local news about volunteer clean-up crews having to haul out hundreds of pounds of garbage from popular backcountry spots every year. It just boggles my mind that people go to all that trouble to reach beautiful places only to trash them. I always pack an extra bag for litter I find on the trail. The idea of leaving a mess at a campsite, especially one that remote, shows a real lack of respect.

Totally feel you on that, @riley43. It's honestly so frustrating to see. Good on you for packing out extra trash, more people need to do that.

Honestly I used to think packing out other people's trash was a waste of my time. Seeing a spot like that wrecked last year changed my mind for good. Now I just grab what I can carry and try to leave it better.
