Just realized the Allegheny Front reroute saved my knees where the old blue blaze wrecked them
Did two trips on the Dolly Sods loop near Davis, West Virginia this season, one on the old blue blaze route and one on the newer red blaze reroute, and the difference is honestly wild. The old path had me slipping on wet rocks for 4 miles and my knees were toast by camp, but the new route adds about 1.5 miles of switchbacks and my legs felt fine the next morning. If you're planning a trip out there, take the reroute even though it looks longer on the map, trust me. Anyone else notice the trail crews have been busy out that way this year?
