TIL the trailhead for the West Fork Foss Lakes route is way more crowded than it was three years ago.

We got there at 7 AM on a Saturday and the main lot was already full, forcing a half-mile walk from the overflow just to start the hike.

Heard a similar story from a buddy last month. He drove up to that trailhead at sunrise on a Tuesday, thinking he'd beat the crowd. Even the overflow spots were filling up, and he ended up parking on the shoulder a mile down the road. Said it felt more like waiting in line for a concert than heading out for a quiet hike. It's crazy how these places blow up on social media and just get overrun. Makes you wonder where all these people were a few years ago.

Remember when the only thing you needed to beat was your own laziness to get out the door? I mean, I showed up to a spot at 5am last fall because some app said it was "hidden," and there was already a line of cars. Felt like a total fool in my hiking boots holding a coffee, idly wondering if they'd start selling merch.

Ugh, that's the worst! I had the same thing happen at a lake last summer, showed up at dawn and it was packed. It totally ruins the whole point of getting outside. Now I just stick to my local park.
