Tried to hike the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama last spring and got chased by a turkey

I was about 3 miles in near Cheaha State Park when this big tom turkey came out of nowhere, puffed up, and started following me for like half a mile. Has anyone else dealt with aggressive wildlife on southern trails that just won't quit?
