Walked 8 miles on the Appalachian Trail before noticing my pack was sitting 3 inches too low on my hips
A guy in a shelter near Fontana Dam pointed it out to me after I complained about my shoulders hurting, and once I adjusted the hip belt everything shifted and it felt like I was carrying half the weight, has anyone else had a random stranger fix their entire trip with one tip?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me on the Georgia section! I had been hiking for like three days with my pack sitting way too low and my shoulders were screaming at me every step. An older guy at Neel Gap just watched me walk by and yelled out "hey, you're gonna wreck your shoulders like that" and walked me through the adjustment. It honestly felt like magic, I went from struggling up the hills to actually enjoying the hike. Those little tweaks from experienced hikers are worth more than any fancy gear you can buy.

Oh wow, that's so true. It's funny how the smallest fixes can totally change your whole experience, not just with hiking but with almost everything. I swear half the stuff I own or do could work way better if someone just took two seconds to show me the right way. Like, I spent months avoiding my food processor because I thought it was junk, turns out I just had the blade in wrong. There's something about having someone who's been there before point out the thing you're blind to. It's humbling but also kind of beautiful how much we miss when we're just grinding through it alone.

Pfft, I've been hiking for years and my pack's fine wherever it lands, people overthink this stuff WAY too much.
