Remember reading that was a myth. The real issue was the film got damaged in the lab. Makes sense given how the whole production went.

Actually heard that lab story got debunked too. The footage was just gone, like completely missing from the vault. The whole thing was a mess from the start, so a simple lab accident seems too clean. I believe the darker stories about the director losing it and destroying the film himself. Fits the pattern of that whole cursed shoot.
