Just realized I wasted 6 months defending a truly awful movie
I used to think The Room was overrated as a 'so bad it's good' flick. My buddy kept pushing it at our bad movie nights, but I was skeptical for like half a year. Then last Friday he finally convinced me to give it a real shot without fast forwarding. That plastic spoon scene alone had me laughing so hard I almost choked on my soda. Now I gotta admit I was dead wrong, that movie is pure gold in its own terrible way. Has anyone else had a movie they hated on until one specific moment changed your mind?

The weirdest thing about The Room is how it manages to be both unwatchable and hypnotic at the same time. I remember showing it to my girlfriend and she sat through the whole thing with this blank stare, then just said "that was like watching a car crash in slow motion" and went to bed. Now she asks me to put it on whenever she's had a rough day, which is probably not the healthiest coping mechanism but hey, whatever works.

That 14 minute sex scene with the cheesy music is the part that always gets me, it just keeps going and going like they forgot to yell cut. Your girlfriend might be onto something though, there's something weirdly comforting about watching a disaster you can't look away from.

Pure gold in its own terrible way" - I'll have to disagree, that movie is just painful to sit through.
