My buddy swore blind that The Room is the worst movie ever made
He kept insisting I watch it for years, so finally I did last weekend with a group of friends. We were laughing so hard at the terrible acting and weird plot that I think he might actually be right about it being the perfect bad movie. What's your go-to pick for a movie night that's hilariously awful?

Used to think movies like Birdemic were unbeatable in the bad movie category. Then a friend dragged me to a midnight showing of The Room and I realized what I was missing. The sheer confidence of Tommy Wiseau acting completely wrong in every scene is a special kind of magic. Nothing else quite captures that weird mix of confusion and pure entertainment for me.

Hold on to that quote forever because it never gets old no matter how many times you hear it. What gets me is how every single character talks like they're reading lines from different scripts and none of them match up. The football throwing scene alone proves Tommy Wiseau made a movie that breaks all the rules of filmmaking but somehow it works way better than it has any right to.

Watched The Room last month after hearing about it for years and I gotta admit I was wrong about bad movies before that. @jordanblack is spot on about Tommy Wiseau's weird confidence making it special. Birdemic is funny but The Room has this strange charm where you question if it's even real. The way every scene feels like it's from a different movie completely caught me off guard. My friends and I still quote "You are tearing me apart Lisa" at least once a week now. Have you seen The Disaster Artist to see how that mess got made?
