Saw Sharknado 3 then the original Sharknado and the CGI difference in just 2 years is wild

Watched Sharknado 3 last Friday and the effects looked like a PS2 cutscene compared to the first one's garbage fire charm from 2013. Did the budget actually go up but the quality somehow got worse, or is that just part of the fun with these sequels?

I feel like that's just how sequels always go, bigger budget but less heart.

I used to think sequels had to get better but that movie proved me wrong.

Maybe the problem is when they try to recapture the same magic instead of just telling a new story (which is why standalone spin-offs sometimes work better).
