That $12 DVD of 'The Room' I grabbed off Amazon was the best bad movie money I ever spent

I used to think paying for movies was dumb when you can stream everything. But my buddy kept going on about how you gotta see Tommy Wiseau's masterpiece with friends and a group reaction. So I dropped $12 on the DVD just to prove him wrong and honestly it was the best purchase I've made all year. We had 6 people over last Saturday and everyone was losing it over the spoon pictures and the terrible acting. The commentary track alone is worth the money because Wiseau is completely serious about it. Has anyone else grabbed a physical copy of a so bad it's good movie and found it way more fun than just streaming?

Man, you hit the nail on the head. I used to be the same way, thought physical media was a waste when Netflix had everything. Then a friend brought over his battered copy of 'The Toxic Avenger' and we all watched it together, and the difference was NIGHT and DAY. The scratched up case, the cheap menus, the forced commercials that nobody skips because you're too busy laughing at the dialogue. That DVD turned a quiet Tuesday into one of the rowdiest nights I've had in years. The Room sounds like the PERFECT group watch, and that commentary track is pure gold because the guy honestly thinks he made a masterpiece. There's something about owning the actual disc that makes the whole experience feel like you're part of the joke.

Totally with you @susan649, that's exactly what I'm talking about. The whole ritual of putting the disc in and dealing with the janky menus just adds to the charm in a way streaming never can.
