That weekend I watched 'Birdemic' expecting a horror movie and got a laugh riot

I threw on 'Birdemic' last Saturday thinking it would be a cheesy monster flick, but the acting was so wooden and the special effects looked like clip art that I couldn't stop laughing. My buddy came over halfway through and we ended up rewinding the bad CGI eagle attacks three times just to soak in how terrible they were. Anyone else have a movie that surprised you by being hilarious instead of scary?

The director's commentary is an absolute goldmine, you have to check it out. He talks about the eagles like they're terrifying predators and explains the love scenes with total seriousness. It makes the movie even funnier because you realize he had no idea how bad it was while filming it. The way he defends the CGI as "realistic" is almost as entertaining as the clip art eagles themselves.

Ain't it funny how bad art can be way more entertaining than good art sometimes?

The thing that gets me about Birdemic is how the director totally committed to the deadpan tone, like he genuinely thought he was making something serious. That kind of unintentional sincerity is way funnier than any parody could ever be. Have you watched the director's commentary track, or did you just stick to the main feature?
