Took me 90 minutes to realize the DVD was the wrong region

Picked up a cheap copy of that ninja shark movie from a pawn shop in Tulsa, popped it in, and got a black screen with a spinning circle. I spent a solid hour messing with the player settings, switching cables, even tried a different TV in the spare room. Finally looked at the disc case and saw Region 2 printed in tiny letters on the back. Now I'm stuck with a coaster unless I dig out an old unlocked DVD player. Anyone else get burned by region codes on bargain bin finds?

Quit whining and check the damn case before you buy. That's on you, not the region system. You can see the little globe icon and the number if you actually flip the thing over. I grab bargain discs all the time and I've never once had this problem because I spend the ten seconds it takes to look. The fact you swapped TVs before reading the back of the case says everything about how you shop. Blaming region codes for your own lazy habit is like blaming the oven for burning your pizza when you left it in there overnight. Learn to read the label or stick to renting.
