I finally tried using a kitchen scale for my bread dough
I always thought measuring cups were fine for baking, but last Tuesday I gave a cheap $15 scale a shot after my loaves kept coming out dense. Turns out being off by even a quarter cup of flour was messing up hydration ratios every time. Now my sourdough has an actual crumb structure instead of looking like a brick. Anyone else ditch the cups for a scale and notice a difference?

Kept finding flour in my keyboard for days after I made the switch.

Freaking out when you hear that little crunch sound from your keyboard and you're like, did I drop a chip or is it the ghost of my sourdough starter haunting me. I swear I was still finding tiny flecks of whole wheat in my laptop fan vents like a month later, had to use a can of compressed air every few days. And the worst part is when you type and you can literally smell the dough every time your fingers warm up the keys, like a bakery that's stuck in your computer. Makes me wonder if anyone's ever accidentally started a fermentation in their keyboard because that flour probably had all the wild yeast still in it. Honestly it's a miracle I didn't get a full colony of lactobacillus growing in there.

The real horror nobody talks about is what happens if you have pets. My cat walked across my desk after I made bread and tracked flour onto my keyboard. Next thing I know she's licking the keys every time I type because she can smell the butter and salt from the dough. She literally started sitting on my laptop waiting for me to warm it up so she could get a sniff. Now I have to lock her out of the room whenever I bake and keep a keyboard cover on at all times. How did you even manage to keep baking with that thing still in your computer for a month without going crazy?
