My gram handed me a piece of advice about overmixing that totally shifted my pie crust game

She saw me working the dough for a full 5 minutes and said 'you're making bread, not a pie.' Now I stop as soon as the butter pieces are pea sized, even if it looks shaggy. Has anyone else gotten a simple tip from an older relative that flipped their baking around?

Stop as soon as the butter pieces are pea sized" is the exact trick I finally learned after making hockey pucks for years.
