My stand mixer locked up mid-batch on Saturday and I almost lost it
I was making a double batch of brioche dough for the farmer's market stall next weekend and the KA just stopped dead about 4 minutes in. The motor was humming but the hook wasn't turning at all. I popped off the bowl and found a tiny piece of plastic wrapper jammed under the shaft, got it out with a chopstick. Anybody else had random junk get stuck in theirs and did it mess up the gears long term?

Man, that's unlucky. Little bits of plastic are sneaky like that. Should be fine if you got it all out though.

Hold on there @terryw67, you gotta be a bit careful with that. Little bits of plastic in an engine, they can cause more trouble than you'd think. I seen a guy once miss a piece and it melted onto the oil pickup screen, clogged the whole system. Even a small shard can find its way into a bearing and score things up real bad. You need to pull the pan and flush it all out with solvent, not just hope it's gone. Trust me, that plastic doesn't just disappear.
