The week our sourdough starter decided to become a superhero
We had a sudden 40-degree temperature drop in the kitchen, and the starter I'd been nursing for months suddenly doubled in size in 3 hours, making the best loaves I've ever pulled from the oven. Has a weird weather shift ever saved your bake?

My starter usually just sits there looking sad. A cold snap might be the kick it needs. My best bake came after I forgot about it for a day and a half in a weirdly warm spot. Guess neglect is my secret weapon. It’s a miracle I get any bread at all.

Yeah, it's funny how the best results sometimes come from things going a little wrong. I've seen it with my plants too, where a missed watering during a heatwave makes them flower like crazy. Makes you wonder if being too careful holds things back.

My sourdough starter went nuts after I left it near the heating vent for 12 hours by accident. It's like they need a bit of stress to get going, like what lunaf67 said about the warm spot. I used to babysit mine and got weak results, now I'm way more relaxed with the feeding times. That little bit of neglect seems to build way more strength for the final dough.
