Tried using cold butter in my biscuit dough instead of frozen and it actually made them fluffier somehow
After months of hockey-puck biscuits I switched to straight-from-the-fridge butter and got that rise I was chasing - has anyone else had better luck with cold versus frozen for drop biscuits?

Always thought frozen was the way but this has me rethinking my whole biscuit game.

Hold up @miles_young59, have you tried doing frozen biscuits in a cast iron pan with extra butter on top? That's my go-to and they come out crispy on the bottom but super fluffy inside. I've had too many fresh dough ones turn out flat or too dense to switch over now.
