Why does nobody talk about sourdough discard pancakes?

Wasted half a bag of flour trying to get my starter going and finally threw the discard into pancake batter on a whim last Sunday. Now I've got a jar in the fridge just for pancakes, anyone else find a random shortcut that saved them from tossing stuff?

My sister-in-law started saving her sourdough discard in a second jar and now uses it as the base for her pizza dough on Fridays. Turns out you can swap discard for about half the flour and water in any yeasted recipe, saves her a good bit of waste every week.

Is that a fancy way of saying you made a slightly burnt circle?

Tried the pizza dough trick once. Burned it so bad the smoke detector went off and my dog hid under the bed for two hours. Still ate it though, called it "charred artisan crust" to make myself feel better. The discard pancakes are foolproof for me because I can't screw up breakfast foods apparently. My starter jar is basically a weird pet I'm too scared to kill now.
