Appreciation post: My oven's idea of preheated is a loose suggestion
The light goes off, but the actual temperature is always fifty degrees low. I put in a batch of cookies that came out raw in the middle because of it. Now I wait an extra ten minutes and use a separate thermometer every time. It adds to the bake time, but at least my snacks are cooked.

Seriously, I read somewhere that oven makers basically program that light to shut off way before it's truly up to temp. It's like a built-in lie! A separate thermometer is the only way to be sure.

Oven lights often turn off before the heat evens out.

Watched my friend's birthday cake become a raw disaster because her oven lies about being ready.
