Heard a baker at the county fair say 'a bad bake is just a good story waiting to happen'
I was feeling down after my chocolate cake came out like a brick last week, but that line made me stop and laugh instead. Now I'm trying to see my fails as practice runs, not disasters. Do you have a funny baking fail story that you learned from?

Used to get so mad at ruined recipes but yeah that baker's right, a flat cake turned into a story my family still jokes about at holidays.

Read a thing once about how our brains hold onto funny disaster memories way tighter than perfect ones. Makes sense, a flawless cake just gets eaten. A pancake flat brick becomes legend. Those messed up moments are the glue, honestly. Takes the pressure off trying to make everything picture perfect.

Honestly I read this article about how the best family stories come from things going wrong, not from perfect moments. Tbh my mom's famous "soup that tasted like soap" because she mixed up spices is still talked about more than any fancy meal she nailed. It's like those mess-ups become inside jokes that tie everyone together. Ngl it really changed how I see my own kitchen fails now.
