I used to think weighing ingredients was just for show
For years I just used cups and spoons, and my cakes were fine. Then I tried a recipe from a friend in Portland that called for 227 grams of butter, exactly. I thought it was silly, but I bought a cheap scale. The cake came out so much better, with a perfect crumb every single time. Now I weigh everything, even flour, and my bakes are way more consistent. Has anyone else made the switch and seen a real difference?

Still seems like extra work for no reason. My stuff turns out fine with cups and I don't have to wash another gadget.

Honestly I get that. My mom was the same with her old measuring cups forever. Then she tried my scale for baking bread one time and now she weighs everything, even coffee beans. Tbh it just clicked for her when the bread stopped being dense.

Lol my first time using a scale I weighed the bowl before I put anything in it. Took me a minute to figure out why my math was so off.
