My great grandma's cake pan finally gave up after 40 years

Pulled out her old 9 inch round pan last Sunday to make her pound cake recipe and the bottom just peeled off mid bake, batter everywhere in the oven. She got it as a wedding gift back in 1983 and it survived like 200 bakes before this, guess nothing lasts forever. Anyone else have a favorite pan or tool that just died one day, or am I the only one attached to old bakeware?

Found an old cast iron skillet in my grandma's garage that she'd forgotten about for years, figured it was ruined, but honestly scrubbing all the rust off and reseasoning it felt like bringing her back to life a little. Still use it every single week for cornbread. Maybe check if there's any way to repurpose the pan, like turning it into a planter or hanging it on the wall, that way her memory stays in the kitchen without you having to risk another oven disaster. I know it hurts to lose something with that much history, but at least you got 40 years of good food out of it, which is more than most pans will ever see.
