My neighbor laughed at my bread until she tried it warm from the oven
So last Sunday I was pulling a loaf of sourdough out of the oven and my neighbor Linda was hanging over the fence watching me. She made this face like I was doing something wrong and said "That looks too flat, I bet it's dense inside." I just shrugged and cut her a thick slice while it was still steaming. She took one bite and her eyes went wide and she asked for another piece with butter. Then she admitted her store bought bread was never this good and asked me to show her how I do the starter. Now she texts me every day about her bubbling jar and I kinda love that she was wrong about my bread.

Linda's probably checking her starter more than her texts now lol.

elliot_patel you are NOT wrong haha. I saw a thread on another site where a woman said her sourdough starter was basically her third child at this point, she was that attached. It is genuinely funny how we all get so invested in a jar of flour and water. Linda is probably more worried about that starter than any twenty missed calls from her ex. Honestly, I think it speaks to how hard it is to keep one alive compared to just ignoring people. Your phone can wait, but that Bubble Growth waits for no one.
