My sourdough starter went crazy after I left it in the car for an hour
This was on a Tuesday when I had to run errands and took my starter jar with me. I left it in the passenger seat while it was sunny and about 75 degrees out. When I got back, it had bubbled over the top and made a huge mess on my seat. I was so mad, but I decided to bake with it anyway. The bread I made that night was the best rise I've ever gotten, super light and airy inside. Has anyone else had a baking fail turn into a win because of a weird accident?

Heat shock therapy for your starter, haha.

So is this like the trick where you put it in a turned-off oven with just the light on for a few hours? I read that a sudden warm spot can really kick a slow starter into gear because it wakes the yeast up fast.

Wait, are we talking about actually shocking it with heat on purpose? Like, @emery_black, did you leave your starter jar in a hot car or next to the oven to give it a jump start? I've heard of people using a warm oven with the light on, but that sounds way more intense.
