My sugar-free cake turned out awful, so I disagree with cutting all sugar for health baking

This fail showed me that using a small amount of real sugar keeps baked goods enjoyable and helps people stick to healthier eating.

Honestly that's how it goes with SO many wellness rules. People go to extremes cutting something out entirely, then feel miserable and give up. A little of the real thing usually works better than a full replacement that tastes like cardboard.

Exactly @miles_fisher, one good square of dark chocolate works wonders.

That point about replacements tasting like cardboard is so true! When people ban foods they love, it just makes them want it more. Then they end up binging later because they feel deprived. Letting yourself have a small amount of the real thing keeps cravings in check. It's way easier to stick to healthy habits when you're not miserable!
