PSA: The baking competition shows are making people think they're better than they are
I went to a local baking class last weekend and watched three people argue with the instructor about proper creaming technique because they saw some YouTuber do it differently. One woman insisted her cookies were fine even though they spread into one giant pancake on the sheet. Look, I get that the TV shows make everything look fast and flashy, but they skip all the boring parts that actually matter. 2 hours in and half the class had burned their butter because they were too busy trying to make their bakes look "aesthetic." Anyone else notice more people coming into baking classes with egos from watching too much of that content?

Stopped watching those shows myself. Too much drama, not enough actual technique.

Blair's friend isn't wrong at all. I swear every single competition show now has that one episode where someone melts down over a buttercream frosting, and it's always right before the commercial break. It's like they forgot that baking used to be a quiet thing you did with your grandma, not a therapy session on national TV. I guess that's just the way the world is now, everything has to be turned up to 11 or nobody pays attention anymore. Makes me miss the old days when a show was just about the cake and not the person making it.
