Question about the cake display at that new bakery on 5th Street

I went to Sweet Spot Bakery yesterday and their cakes look perfect, like plastic... but the one I bought tasted dry. Is a pretty cake worth it if it doesn't taste good, or should looks come second? Has anyone else tried their stuff?

Skip the fancy display cakes. Grab a slice from their day-old section, it's usually cheaper and tastes way better because it's had time to get moist.

Wait, day-old cake is actually better? I mean I get the price thing but I've always thought it would be stale.

You're right about the stale part, but some cakes get more moist overnight.
