Question about the sourdough at that new bakery on 5th Street

Stopped in yesterday and every single loaf had the exact same, perfect ear. It looked more like a factory than a bake shop. Has anyone else seen places where the 'artisan' look is just too uniform?

I mean, it's everywhere now. Idk, maybe it's just me but even the farmer's markets have that weird, too-perfect look. Takes the soul out of it.

Ugh, you're so right. It's like they're picking food for a catalog now, not for eating. That story from @perry.fiona about the tomatoes really stuck with me. Do you think it's the vendors trying too hard to look "premium" or is the demand actually coming from shoppers who want that fake, shiny look?

Remember when my buddy bought these perfect looking tomatoes at the new market? They were all the same size and shiny. He said they tasted like nothing, like wet paper. Felt like he bought a photo, not food.
