Spilled my starter on the counter and now I'm terrified I ruined it
I had a conversation with a bakery owner last weekend who told me he lost 4 years of sourdough starter when his power went out and it froze solid. I dropped my jar this morning and most of my starter spilled onto the counter. I scooped what I could back in but now I'm worried about contamination. Has anyone salvaged a starter after a counter spill?

Honestly I used to think a little counter spice was no big deal, but reading how yours turned out kinda changed my mind. You might get away with it if you feed it a few times and it smells normal, but I'd keep a close eye on it for a few days before using it again.
