The problem with today's over-the-top baking fads
I think fancy baking trends cause more kitchen fails than wins. Take those complex layer cakes with fancy decorations. They often fall apart because people skip basic steps. My friend tried a trendy geode cake and it cracked in half. That's a clear fail that wasted time and money. A real win is nailing a simple pie with a flaky crust. We need to focus on good baking, not just pretty pictures.

Yeah the "really crack" part gets me, @patricia558. I mean it feels like everything from cakes to weekend plans is just more brittle now. Maybe we're all trying to make things look perfect when they're wired to fall apart.
