Yeah that's exactly what happened. I read somewhere that the fat content in yogurt matters a ton for baking. @sarah818 is right - Greek yogurt is like cement compared to regular yogurt. I saw a food blog actually test this and their cake came out dense and flat just like you described. You need the liquid to be around the same consistency as buttermilk or it messes up the chemical reaction with the baking soda. Try whole milk plain yogurt next time and thin it out with a splash of milk if it looks too thick.

Double check if it was whole fat yogurt, you might have used low fat or Greek which is way too thick and throws off the liquid balance.
