A client told me my fading sounded 'scratchy' and it broke my whole groove

Last Thursday in Portland, this older dude sits down and after 10 minutes he goes, 'Son, your clipper work sounds like a cat walking on gravel, ease up on the blade speed.' I switched from my #1 to a slower lever stroke mid-cut and honestly the finish was cleaner, so now I'm second-guessing every fade I do, you catch yourself doing the same thing when someone critiques your technique?
