Clipper fade moment that made me feel like an idiot

I had been doing skin fades for like 2 years before I realized I was using too much pressure on the clipper. A client at my shop in Austin mentioned his scalp was sore after a cut and it finally clicked. Anybody else have a moment where you figured out you were overcomplicating something basic?

The "too much pressure" thing hit home for me. I was pressing down like I was trying to carve my initials in their head before I figured it out too.

Man, is a sore scalp really that deep though? Feels like some people treat a barber visit like a spa day. I mean yeah, don't mangle the guy's head, but a little tenderness after a skin fade is pretty normal in my experience. Sounds like you were being too careful once you figured it out, not the other way around.

Too much pressure is a common rookie mistake, it just takes time.
