Had a clipper motor die mid-haircut last Thursday

I was doing a fade on a regular and the Andis Master just stopped spinning with no warning. Smoke came out of the vents and everything. Anyone else had a motor burn out on an older clipper like that?

No kidding! Same thing happened to me with my Wahl Senior about six months ago. I was doing a lineup and it just seized up with a puff of smoke and that burnt electrical smell. I let it cool down and tried it again the next day, it ran for maybe thirty seconds and died for good. I had to finish that cut with my backup clipper.

My 10 year old Oster just started smoking last week mid-cut too. Guess they don't make em like they used to or maybe I just used up all the luck on that one motor. At least the smoke cleared out after a few minutes, but my customer sure got a surprise.

Did you keep using it after the smoke cleared or did you retire it then and there lol? I feel like once electronics start smoking that's their way of telling you they're done, even if they limp along a bit longer.
