Hit 5000 haircuts last week and it hit me different than I expected

I've been cutting hair out of my shop in Tulsa for about 12 years now. Last Thursday I finished up a kid's fade and my bookkeeper told me that was number 5000 since I opened. I honestly didn't think I'd care about a number like that but it made me stop and think about all the regulars who've come and gone. Some of them I've seen go from middle school to getting married. I'm just wondering if anybody else here has hit a milestone that surprised them with how it felt. Did it change how you looked at your work at all?

5000 haircuts hit you different" - yeah, I bet it did, probably because your arm is permanently stuck in that scissors-open position now. That's a lot of small talk about the weather and awkward silences when you accidentally buzz someone's sideburn too high. Honestly though, going from middle schoolers to wedding fades is wild, you've basically become the barbershop version of a family photo album.

Middle schoolers definitely teach you patience in a way nothing else can, that's for sure. Once you've handled a kid who wants a mohawk one minute and a buzz cut the next, wedding clients are basically a vacation. That family photo album thing hit home, every barber ends up knowing everyone's life story by accident.
