Just realized half the barbers I know are using the wrong blade gap on their clippers

I was cleaning a guy's Magic Clips at the shop yesterday and his adjustable blade was cranked wide open like he was shearing sheep. How many of you actually check your blade gap before every haircut? I've had to fix two trims this week alone from people running too aggressive a setting.

Wait how often do you find yourself having to re-adjust mid-cut though? @the_emery's buddy had the right idea learning early, but I'm curious if people are checking once and forgetting or actually tweaking it per section. I still see dudes running their fade clippers at a 1.5 gap on the back when they should be at a 0.5 for that blend, it's wild. Half the time a bad line isn't the tool's fault, it's just somebody not paying attention to the gap before they drop down.

I used to just leave mine wide open like it didn't matter, thought it just affected how fast the clippers cut. A few months back a buddy showed me the difference on a test strip and I was shocked how much cleaner a proper gap looks. Now I check before every haircut, saves me a ton of frustration and weird lines.

My buddy Dave the barber finally convinced me to gap check after I left a bald patch on my cousin's head last summer (it grew back but man was that an awkward family dinner).
