My blending method messed up a client's taper, so I switched gears
I always blended tapers with quick, upward motions. A guy with fine, straight hair came in wanting a sharp taper. My usual way left visible lines and patchy spots. He kindly said it looked uneven, which was embarrassing. I spent an evening practicing on a mannequin with similar hair. Found that slower, smaller strokes with the clipper made a clean blend. Now I adjust my speed and pressure based on hair type, and clients notice the difference.

My first fade looked like a lawnmower fight.

Quick upward motions are a classic barbering move for a reason. Switching techniques for every hair type seems like overthinking it. Master one method instead of chasing adjustments.

I was all about adjusting for hair types, but your 'master one method' point changed my mind.
