That $60 clipper blade sharpening kit I bought from Japan

Picked up a Towa blade sharpening kit off Amazon for $60 last month. I was skeptical but my JRL clippers were tugging bad. Used it on my personal set first and it worked, but when I tried it on a client's coarse hair it still pulled. The kit needs way more practice than I expected, plus the stones wear out fast. Anyone else tried sharpening their own blades or do you just send them out to a service?

....and honestly that's the part nobody talks about, the stones wearing out. Most people think you're saving money long term but you're not really if you're buying new stones every few months. I've seen guys on here swear by it but they're mostly doing their own hair or family, not paying clients. With your JRLs that's a $200 clipper, you're basically trusting a $60 kit and your shaky hands to not ruin it. I went down this hole last year and realized the REAL cost isn't the kit, it's the time you spend learning the angle and pressure, plus the test cuts on actual heads. One bad sharpening job on a paying client's hair and you lose way more than the $60 you saved. Send them out, pay the $25, and use that hour you'd spend messing with stones to actually clean your tools or something.
