That one client who sat quietly for 20 minutes then said 'you saved my life'
Had a guy come in last Tuesday, looked rough, didn't say much at first. Just asked for a fade and a beard trim. I do my usual small talk but he wasn't having it so I just worked. After I finished he looked in the mirror and got real quiet. Then he said 'I was gonna shave it all off tonight. Walking out of here feels different.' He tipped me 30 bucks on a 25 dollar cut and shook my hand twice. Has anyone else had a client drop something heavy like that on you out of nowhere?

I saw a thing online that said barbers are like cheap therapists. Guys will tell you stuff they won't tell anyone else.

Wait, you're saying guys actually open up that much in a barber chair? That's wild to me. I barely say two words to my barber beyond asking for a fade. But I guess when you're sitting there for 20 minutes with nothing else to do, it makes sense people start talking. The whole therapist thing sort of works because you know the guy isn't gonna judge you and he's probably heard it all before. Plus there's something about having someone's full attention with a pair of scissors near your head that makes you feel safe to overshare. Does that actually happen to you or are you just seeing the meme?
