Wasted $150 on a clipper sharpening service that ruined two blades

Took my favorite Wahl seniors and a magic clip blade to a sharpening guy in Brooklyn last month. He charged $75 each and said they'd be good as new. First cut with the senior blade left a patchy mess and the magic clip blade just snagged on every other hair. Took them to my regular barber supply shop and they said the edge was ground down wrong and basically unsalvageable. Anyone else get burned by a sharpening service or am I just unlucky?

Paid for the premium experience and got the budget haircut result.

$75 each is wild since most shops charge $20 a blade around here.

Friend of mine paid $90 for a blade at a fancy barber shop downtown and the thing went dull after three shaves. Sometimes the pricey ones aren't even worth it.
