Hot take: playing rain sounds on my phone beats reading a book in bed, and my sister in Denver says I'm missing out
Two years ago I would read a paper book with a little clip on light until my eyes hurt. Now I put on a 10 hour rain video from a channel called Cozy Storm at 10:30pm and I'm out in maybe 15 minutes. My sister in Denver says I'm wrecking my sleep because of the blue light, but I put the phone face down on the nightstand so it's just sound. I do miss actually finishing books though, I'm on the same novel I started in March. Do you all use sound or read to fall asleep, and did switching ever mess up your sleep for real?
Read somewhere that your brain links the rain sound to "nothing to do now but sleep" after a couple weeks, so it turns into a cue. For what it's worth my cousin does the same thing and swears her sleep tracker got better, not worse. The unfinished novel thing is real though, mine's been on chapter 4 since January lol.
